We have lost half our income so the A/C costs have to go

We have lost half of our income since my husband lost his job, so now we are going to have to cut way back on our A/C costs this summer.

We need to have a repair done on the air conditioning system, but once that gets done, we are going to have to stop using it so much anyway! This was the worst possible time for my husband to lose his job, in my opinion. I love using the air conditioning during the summer and without it, I am basically a miserable wretch. I had the summer heat and the high temperatures that we get around here in this part of the country where we live. People who don’t live down here just don’t understand how bad the heat is during the summer when the heat and humidity just never seem to let up. It can really wear on your nerves sometimes, that’s for sure. I told my husband that it was going to be a really rough summer if we weren’t able to get the air conditioning working again and he said that even once we get it fixed, we aren’t going to be able to set the thermostat much lower than 75 degrees. That sounds terrible to me! I don’t even know if I will be able to sleep anytime throughout the summer months if it’s always 75 degrees in my house. I like to keep the thermostat set at around 67 degrees during the summer. That eight degree difference is going to seem really huge in the middle of the summer.
