I consider myself to be a pretty hard man in general, and pride myself on being able to handle most situations on my own accord separate from experiencing too much misery; That being said, I’m also not the roughest rider out there, and I would say that my brute strength and survival skills could use improvement, but for instance, I’m no proponent of camping or living separate from most modern technologies, and I definitely couldn’t go more than a few afternoons separate from a tepid shower.
That’s why it felt like living through an apocalypse last monthwhen my Heating, Ventilation & A/C system totally crapped out on me… I was simply at home, doing my normal labor duties, when I heard the strangest sound emerge from the heater cabinet.
I went to investigate, and found a different smell issuing from the heating unit. The control equipment was unresponsive when I attempted to adjust the temperature settings, making me realize that in fact, the entire heating and cooling system was offline… Considering my superb friend and I were in the middle of a rapid temperature drop, this was not the best timing, when I called nearby Heating, Ventilation & A/C specialists they all reluctantly told me that their heating and cooling servicemans were completely booked for the foreseeable future. Fantastic. With no other options, I began using space furnaces and my fireplace around the clock to stay warm, and hunkered down to wait for relief. I couldn’t have been happier when a ventilation specialist finally arrived a week later; I rushed up to him as if I had been stranded alone in the wilderness.
