My friends and I went across the United States to the west coast to visit one of our other friends and his new home. Our friend just moved there about 3 months ago and he has been raving about the new town he lives in. So we decided to go out and see him and I have to agree, his new home is absolutely stunning. The people that live on the west coast are very environmentally conscious. I saw a lot of recycling bins and other energy and money saving strategies. My friend has become just as environmentally friendly as well. His home is a smart home and it keeps track of his energy usage and he can control almost anything from his phone. The coolest feature that I found was that my friend can control his heating and ventilation and cooling system’s thermostat through his phone. My friend has told me that he has saved a lot of money on his heating and cooling bills from using his smart thermostat app on his phone. He told us that he doesn’t see a reason why his air conditioning system should be running while he’s not home and the same goes for his furnace system. Due to the climate that he lives in he has a mini split system. I have never heard of a mini split system until I went to his house to see one. A mini split system basically allows you to better control the temperature in the rooms in your home. Mini split systems vary based on the square footage of the house or the room. Because some of my friend’s rooms are larger than others he has a bigger mini split system. I was very intrigued by this new heating and cooling system that it made me want to move out west!
