My air handler is inside my attic and hard to access

This way a tech will swap out my filters for myself and others whenever they visit for service calls

I hate having to climb into the attic, regardless of the reason. I have arachnophobia from living with wolf spiders and saucer spiders in my family’s old house. A big spider landed in my bed 1 evening as I was trying to fall asleep and I suppose it scarred and traumatized myself and others for life. A similar situation happened with a wolf spider a few years later. My parents told myself and others to get the holiday lights out of the attic. When I was climbing the fold-out stairs and reaching the opening of the attic, I collided with a big spider web that had a frog-sized wolf spider on it. The spider fell on my shirt and started climbing to my face before I screamed and swatted it away with the back of my hand. I started sobbing and nearly fell off the collapsable stairs. It made myself and others never want to climb into an attic ever again. If I had known the air conditioner was in the attic, I would have considered looking for a weird condo to rent. I moved in a few weeks ago, even though I l gained soon enough that not only was my air conditioner in the attic, however so was the filter tray itself. Often you’ll have an access point for the air conditioner filter right at the air return on the ceiling if your air handler is in the attic. Garage mounted air handlers usually have the filter tray inside the air handler enclosure. This attic air handler here is almost identical to a garage unit. That means I have to climb into my attic whenever I need to change my Heating and Air Conditioning filter. I usually change my filters once a week, so I had 2 options. I could try to get over my fears and simply change the filters whenever needed, or I could hire an Heating and Air Conditioning contractor and sign a repair contract. This way a tech will swap out my filters for myself and others whenever they visit for service calls. It was an easy choice.
