My partner finds it completely necessary to run his motorcar for several minutes in the day in order to warm it up.
I definitely get that every one of us lives in an area that gets plenty of snow but studies have shown that warming up a motorcar actually does no good in the slightest.
It wastes gas and only heats up the motorcar maybe a minute quicker than just driving it does… This is despite the fact that the motorcar is left running for a long time. My partner and I have argued about this plenty of times. It wouldn’t bother me so much except for the fact that the utility closet is in the garage. That essentially means that the gas furnace picks up exhaust fumes and spreads them throughout the whole residence. Yes my partner leaves the garage door open and yup the air intake vent for the gas furnace is inside the residence. There must be gaps in the HVAC duct or something because the whole residence still smells entirely like exhaust every single day. I can’t take it! The door to the garage is sealed very tightly so it has to be the gas furnace that is spreading the exhaust fumes all around. I am fatigued of fighting about it though so I made the decision to call up an HVAC company and have them do some HVAC duct sealing instead. I told them to concentrate their efforts on the HVAC duct in the garage area. They sealed up the HVAC duct throughout the entire residence and now I have no more exhaust fumes! I am happy about that, and now I don’t have to agonize about dying just so my partner can go on thinking his motorcar is warming up faster.
