Before I moved to college in the big city I didn’t know anything at all other than country life.
- Growing up as a kid I had always assumed that I would join my fathers farming business, but as I got a bit older, I began to realize that I wanted to do something else in my life.
Once I turned eighteen I said goodbye to the country and moved three hours away to the big city in the hopes of becoming a certified HVAC repair tech. After I began taking HVAC repair classes it became very clear to me that I had an advantage from the rest of the trainees. Unlike the majority of the men and women who were in the class with me, if I had ever wanted something in my life I either had to fix it up or build it on my own. Not only when it came to heating and cooling units in my home, but many other things that people tend to take for granted. Despite the fact that I hadn’t had many high tech things to fix up while I was younger, I was able to use my hard work and resourcefulness to pick things up extremely quick. Shortly after finishing up with my HVAC courses I was offered a job to work at one of the most well known HVAC heating and cooling companies in the city. I would have never imagined that I would be working in this concrete jungle when I was growing up, but thanks to the lessons I learned where I am from I was able to make it happen.
