Size doesn’t always matter

From a very young age, companies try to sell us on “big”, but big candy bars in addition to large soft drinks, large trucks in addition to sedans, large houses in addition to condos – massive, massive, massive! Anyone with financial usual sense knows that “big” isn’t everything when it comes to having the best for your situation, however still, all of us occasionally fall for the “size matters” trope, in addition to find ourselves buying too much for what all of us need.

  • Such a massive lapse in judgement happened with myself and others the other afternoon, when I was shopping around for a room air conditioner to install in our garage! As I browsed the floor models, a salesman approached me, asking if I was going to get any help, then to humor me, I said sure, in addition to explaining what I needed.

The salesman was wonderful at her job, since she convinced myself and others to go with a room air conditioner intended to cool a small warehouse! It sounded so enticing when I was at the store, but now that I have it installed, I realize it was not good. The equipment I bought cools the room so fast, it has incredibly short cycles, then not only does that mean the room heats up faster again, but it also means the equipment eats up power at an alarming rate. My energy bill for the month after installing it was astronomical, in a word! I felt a little wild for buying into size instead of doing research in addition to getting what I entirely needed. Thankfully, a neighbor was willing to go with myself and others to the store in addition to find a smaller model, then i was also blessed to sell our oversized equipment back to the store; Let that be a lesson: size isn’t everything, especially when it comes to appliances for the house!
