A lesson that I had to learn

I have always enjoyed keeping my appliances “like new” for as long as possible, then i clean our oven clean on a monthly type of basis, plus I try to keep the remainder of the dining room as pristine as possible, and my obsession with keeping our possessions as fresh plus clean as possible has led me to make bad decisions, as I’ve discarded perfectly great unit just because it looked too dirty to me, while I can learn to forgive myself for ditching a toaster that was only a year old, I’m going to have a much harder time getting over our decision to update our furnace, but a rule of thumb with changing out heating systems is this.

If and only if it’s under a decade old, keep it. If the furnace is only a few years old however looks filthy, have an Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C professional come plus clean the unit clean! Simple enough, right? Well, I’m not someone who pays attention to “basic”. I worked my butt off to clean the furnace up myself one Monday afternoon, plus after more than one hours of scrubbing with a small sponge, I gave up! Did I call a professional to clean the system? No, I called a Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C company to take a look at the furnace plus help me find a updatement. When the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professionals came, they even said to me that I should hold off on replacing it and simply have them thoroughly clean it out. I refused, being the germaphobe I am, and let them know that I wanted this dirty furnace out! They looked at each other for a moment, before hesitantly agreeing to our demands. It wasn’t until after I spent hundreds of dollars on a new furnace that I realized how out-of-control our obsession with cleanliness had become!
