Going away to college was never something I was interested in.
- I had been told my whole life, by my folks plus my mentors, that we were supposed to go to high school, then go away to college; Getting a college degree was drilled into my head as the most important thing I could do; Then when it all happened and I finally did go away for college I realized I had no interest in it, I was doing it because I had been told to! At that point I decided to find my own path, which ultimately led me here, HVAC service.
You may be thinking “why would he quit college just to work on air conditioners, is he a moron?” Well I might be a moron, but as for me being in HVAC service, it was everything I wanted. I could get my HVAC certification and start finally working full time in as little as 18 months, plus I wouldn’t go underwater in loan debt doing it! Once I landed a gig in HVAC service, I would start off with fantastic pay plus solid benefits, which would only get better over time. Another thing I wanted from a career was being able to leave my work at work at the end of the day and HVAC service also gives me that. I work really hard, but when it’s time to go home for the day, I don’t want to think about heating or cooling systems until the next day when I go back in! My free time is sacred to me, and HVAC service never seems to intrude on it.
