I didn’t charge the person for the HVAC repair

I task for a local A/C repair contractor… Most of the time I task on repairs, but every once in a while I will perform a replacement! Installation jobs happen much less frequently, because people like to repair their HVAC instead of replacing it; but heating, ventilation and A/C systems can be severely expensive, especially if they are energy efficient. It makes more sense to repair the troubles instead of replacing the method every couple of years… This week I went to help an older guy with a temperature control problem. His kids purchased him a programmable temperature control plus they even installed the machine; and unluckily, they did not install the temperature control properly plus the guy could not control the heat or the cooling system with the machine. I figured some of the wires were really crossed plus I didn’t guess the job would take a long time; but when I arrived on the front porch, I recognized the name of the customer. It was my math teacher from elementary school. I didn’t realize from the last name on the ticket until I saw the whole name on the mailbox. When he opened the door, he instantly recognized myself upon seeing my face. We had a nice hug plus a minute or two or catching up. The temperature control wires were crossed plus the short repair only took about more than nine minutes. I didn’t charge him for the repair, but I did take some fresh cookies to go. My boss totally understood when I told him about the guy. He didn’t mind that I provided him a free helping hand. That’s one reason why I like my boss. He is an easily enjoyable guy.
