When we bought a home far out in the country, we came to learn that it was tough getting official HVAC system maintenance.
We actually had a ductless mini split installed which works with a solar power connection.
We have had HVAC professionals come out to work on maintenance, but they charged us a great deal of money because of the distance they had to travel. One of the last guys who came out told us a little bit about how we could work to maintain our own HVAC system. He said the most important things were just keeping the air filters clean and cleaning the components of the system, especially the outdoor condenser unit. He was saying how crucial it is to make sure that the condenser unit is never clogged up. He said if there were any issues like that, we should call them up and they would come out, but we still would have to cover the additional cost for travel distance. I could see why it was important to learn how to do this type of HVAC maintenance on our own, so I started cleaning everything every season. You know, it’s amazing what a little maintenance can do because it’s been forever since I have had to contact the HVAC professionals. I’m sure it might be more challenging to take care of HVAC maintenance with another type of HVAC system, but the ductless mini split is relatively easy to maintain. Everything is designed in a basic way and it’s not challenging to navigate, even my grandparents could maintain a ductless mini split.
