We had a bit of a situation with our old oil furnace.
It wasn’t that the oil furnace wasn’t in fantastic condition, because I swear that heating machine would work for another 10 to 15 years.
No, it was the tremendous cost for oil! Everytime we had to refill that old oil furnace, it would cost us a small fortune, and we would have to refill it multiple times per winter. Finally my father was talking to me and said that I should consider upgrading to something better like radiant heated floors. I wasn’t sure how I would afford a nice heating system like that, and he said I should just sell the oil furnace and work with the money I got from the sale. He said I would be surprised at how many people are looking for older oil furnaces that are built to last. I was wondering why anybody would want something like that, but my father told me people out in the country prefer oil furnaces when they are off the grid. It kind of made sense and so I posted my oil furnace for sale and I was shocked at how fast I was able to sell the thing! I probably could have sold it for a lot more than what I did, but I was hoping for a quick sale. It’s just like my father said, I was able to use the money towards my new heating system upgrade and I went for the radiant heated floors. It wasn’t as costly as I imagined. I was thinking they would have to rip up a lot of the floors, but they were able to do most of the installation from the basement.
