My sister moved down south, shortly after she graduated from university.
- She was offered a legitimately good job with one of the local law firms, and she couldn’t turn it down.
I hated to see her leave when she chose to go to university down south, although I hated it even more now that it was the holidays and I knew she wasn’t going to be around. To our surprise, our sister showed up on Christmas Eve to spend Christmas with us. I was listening to Christmas carols on the stereo, and I was listening to the song that was saying it’s the most beautiful time of the year, when our sister walked into the living room. She laughed and gave me a hug. The most beautiful time of the year, if you live in the South, is what she said. I told her that we had a brand-new furnace, and the heating was excellent, as long as she did not go outside playing in the snow. She told me that she preferred to be in the South and have her a/c running instead of being up north and listening to the furnace rattle all night long. I had to laugh, because she was right about furnace rattling, but it wasn’t as exhausting as she made it sound. I told her she just had to get used to the sound, and appreciate Christmas. She was here to stay for at least a week.Before she made her comment about the a/c, I was hoping she would tell us that after her first year of toil she would be coming house to stay. I guess she has already made up her mind that she legitimately does want to live down south.
