Frankly, I was just sick of waiting.
But I also wasn’t ready to provide in to a life of living in apartments with Heating and A/C component that was as old or older than I was.
That just wouldn’t do. The not so fantastic heating and cooling aside, I definitely was just more sick of having to pay rent instead of building equity. That was the biggest motivator for myself and others to get our own location. Yet, I’m a social worker and don’t make a ton of money. The saving and saving was just getting myself and others nowhere and I didn’t see getting married in our immediate future. But that didn’t mean that I couldn’t find a partner when it came to owning a home. So I found some friends who were in the same boat that I was in as far as wanting to buy a home and not having the downpayment. It wasn’t too hard to draw up an agreement that protected all of our interests equally. Just a handful of trips to the lawyers is all that took. And then, all of us were out looking for property. It was exciting and all of us were all agreed on what all of us needed. For sure, quality heating and air was on all of our lists. But all of us also wanted to have a whole floor to ourselves for our living quarters then share the kitchen. This method worked out fantastic because the Heating and A/C supplier installed a series of ductless heat pumps throughout the home and that was that. Each of us has our own temperature control on our individual floors. It’s worked out fantastic and I sure do love writing a mortgage check to just spending money on rent.
