Doing service work at a client’s current home is difficult when their dog isn’t crated in another room

While I’m not outright afraid of dogs across the board, I have had a few awful experiences over the years to empathize with those that are afraid of our furry friends.

I was nearly attacked by a pit bull at a friend’s beach house in college and it made me realize that those pets might seem cute, but the wrong interaction can lead to literal death in the worst case scenario.

If I had dogs and was going to invite guests over for dinner and cocktails, I would do the smart thing by making sure they stay caged or in their crates if strangers or friends are in our home. That’s an accident you can’t simply recover from if the dog does extreme damage while I was in an unexpected attack. Since I have a german shepard and a beagle, this is what I do whenever I have guests in our home. I expect others to extend me the same courtesy. I work as a heating and cooling serviceman for mostly residential customers. I can’t tell you how several times I walk into a client’s current home and get mauled by 1 or two dogs that aren’t being clogged in any way. At least lock the dogs in another room while I service your air conditioning. That’s all I ask at the end of the day. At least make sure that I am safe while I am working on your heating and cooling system. I don’t want to get bitten and disfigured by a client’s pet, whether it’s a small dog or a large 1.
