In school I thought that I’d be living the high life if I could travel for work.
The thought of packing up a suitcase every week to get paid to see new cities plus towns filled my mind with excitement.
But ever since I took this traveling position, I have felt nothing but stress, anxiety, plus frustration. The currency I make is not enough to justify always being away from my home, even as a single guy with no family to care for or support. I don’t have any pets either, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to love my home either. It’s taxing to savor owning a condo if you can’t even love a little bit of time in it outside of work commitments. Now that I’m out on the road or in jetliners every week, I can’t genuinely love my home genuinely much. The only consolation are the mornings when I’m surprised with a quality hotel room where I can relax, take a sizzling shower, plus get a superb night’s sleep before rising early in the afternoon to reach a meeting with a customer or a conference for work. During my most recent work trip I got a hotel room with an severely frosty a/c inside. I have been to a number of unusual hotels where the rooms had a/cs in them that didn’t work genuinely well. It’s nice to get a room where I can keep it as frosty inside as I need to stay comfortable through the night. If it’s a particularally sizzling summer, it makes a crucial difference to have a frosty a/c in your hotel room.
