I’ve known for a while now that my wife has wanted a fireplace, and in our old home, I would have agreed that having a gas fireplace or an electric fireplace would be a good idea.
The reason is because in our old home, our heating method was not the best and so having a second backup heater would be a good idea. However, when we moved into this home, we had our entire heating and air conditioning method changed and had a brand new HVAC installation installed. Ever since this, our home has been perfectly cooled in the summertime, and perfectly heated in the winter. It might have cost a lot of money for the A/C installation, but it was definitely worth it, especially since this will be the last home that we move to. I would have thought my wife would have lost interest in having a fireplace by now, since we have a perfect heating unit, but while we were eating dinner last night, she told me she was still interested in getting one. I couldn’t help but to question why we had a great heating method as it is, much better climate control than most other people. She told me she still wanted a fireplace for a couple of reasons. One is for aesthetics, and the second is because she told me it would be a good idea to have a back up heating component. I really didn’t see much reason to have a fireplace myself, but I agreed that we can at least look at some for sale.
