Before today, I was very naive about heating and cooling repair works.
I figured it was like most machines.
You take it apart, find whatever is causing the issue, buy whatever you need and you’re done. Yeah I know, stupid thinking on my part. HVAC repairs are never that easy, and now that I think about it, most repairs are not that easy, especially if it’s anything like computers. Anyways, my cooling device had been having trouble for a little while, and so I decided I will try to repair it myself. I watched a few A/C repair videos online, and it didn’t look too bad. I followed the instructions, and I was able to take parts off my HVAC machine. However, I realized mid way through the video, their A/C machine looked a little different inside, and something didn’t add up. That is when I found out they were repairing a newer model of the same type of central A/C I have. Although I have an older model, that is the issue. I couldn’t find other videos, and I was confused as it was, so I decided to put the machine back together and leave it alone. I was afraid when I learned that I could have voided my warranty, but I was able to put it back together just fine. I called an air conditioning specialist, and they were able to repair it for me. Thankfully, they didn’t notice that I had tampered with it, so I think I am okay.
