Before this week, I was honestly naive about heating and cooling service works.
I figured it was like most machines, you take it apart, find whatever is causing the issue, buy whatever you need and you’re done.
Yeah I know, stupid thinking on my part; HVAC repairs are never that easy, and now that I believe about it, most repairs are not that easy, especially if it’s anything like computers. Anyways, my cooling unit had been having trouble for a little while, and so I decided I will try to service it myself. I watched a few A/C service videos online, and it didn’t look too bad. I followed the instruction, and I was able to take parts off my HVAC machine. However, I realized mid way through the video, their A/C unit looked a little weird inside, and something didn’t add up. That is when I found out they were repairing a newer model of the same type of central A/C I have. Although I have an older model, that is the issue. I couldn’t find other videos, and I was confused as it was, so I decided to put the unit back together and leave it alone. I was afraid when I learned that I could have voided my warranty, but I was able to put it back together just fine. I called an air conditioner specialist, and they were able to service it for me. Thankfully, they didn’t notice that I had tampered with it, so I believe I am okay.
