For the last three years, the HVAC technician had been telling us we needed a new air conditioning unit. For the last three years, we had perfect air conditioning throughout the summer, and our air conditioning unit was still working. When the HVAC technician arrived this year, I was sure he was going to tell us we needed a new air conditioning unit before the next summer season. He got to the house, and we were talking about the air conditioning unit and what he had told us last year. I assured him we took care of the air conditioning unit, and I was sure it was going to work for one more year. He didn’t look convinced, but he headed outside to do the inspection. When he came back inside, he was shaking his head. He told me we weren’t going to last for another year. The air conditioning unit would probably die before the end of this summer. He was suggesting we purchase an air conditioning unit now, but I couldn’t afford it. I was hoping we would have one more year before we had to purchase another air conditioning unit. I told him this, but he couldn’t do anything to change the situation. He was surprised we had gotten through three years, and he wasn’t going to change his mind just to make me feel better. He said he didn’t want to see my family go without air conditioning just because he didn’t want to give me bad news. I guessed I was going to be buying a new air conditioning unit.
