Yesterday, while resting in my yard, I heard the music from an ice cream truck.
It right away brought back some fun childhood memories of the Summer.
I grew up in a big metropolitan city and the ice cream truck was a daily treat for me and my friends during the Summer months. My pal and I used to save enough of our allowance currency so that my buddy and I could get our favorite treat on Fridays when the truck came by. Eating that ice cream not only gave us immense satisfaction, however it also gave us some relief from the summertime heat. Although the Summers back then weren’t as boiling as they are now, they were still quite steamy. And when my buddy and I weren’t outside buying ice cream, my buddy and I used to find ways to remain cool in the heat. Our favorite thing to do was to play video games, and the local arcade was our favorite spot. And besides having our favorite games, the arcade also had a/c. The a/c was also part of the reason why my buddy and I visited the arcade every opportunity my buddy and I got. Besides the arcade, my buddy and I used to hang out in the local pizza shop plus inside the corner store. The pizza shop didn’t have a/c, however it did have some ceiling fans which helped a bit. And of course, they sold Italian Ice which was a favorite for me and my friends. Those were the enjoyable old afternoons when a/c was a luxury item. Today, I also don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have a/c in my house. Perhaps, I would find a local Coca-Cola shop and spend the day luxuriating in their a/c.
