Friday evening my spouse and I were supposed to meet some friends at a bar and grill close to my home.
My spouse and I were happy to see our friends.
They were only in the neighborhood for a couple of days and we wanted to see them while they were going to visit. Unfortunately, the cold temperatures that evening were extremely cold and bitter. It was only in the single digits and it was going to continue to drop slowly overnight. I made the executive decision for us to stay home that evening. I knew that my spouse wanted to see our friends as much as I did and we were both bummed out that the temperatures kept us inside. We did have a nice and romantic evening at home. We put some wood in the fireplace and the smell of burning wood filled the air. I like the smell of burning wood in the fireplace. It is one of the reasons why I decided to buy a home with a fireplace in the first place. My spouse made pastries that evening and we cuddled up by the fireplace enjoying wine and sweets. Even though we didn’t get to see our friends or leave the house, we were still actually cheerful with the option that we made to stay indoors. We went to sleep early for a change and woke up well rested and ready to tackle a week of work on Sunday afternoon. I hope our friends will be able to visit the section again soon when the temperatures are much nicer.
