The greatest summer internship

Over the past six weeks I have been interning at the local HVAC ventilation, heating and cooling company in town.

For the first couple of weeks I was having a great time and learning many things along the way, but eventually the fatigue sets in.

My father had worked as an HVAC repair tech for nearly twenty years until he had to retire due to injury, and in all of my time as a kid tagging along with him while he was fixing up various heating and cooling units across the city I never realized just how hard this line of work can be. The thing that has been getting to me the most during my internship this summer has been learning how to deal with all of the rude and frustrated customers you run into along the way. I don’t know if it is just because it is the summer season and people are quicky hot and agitated without proper AC or what, but its getting out of hand in my opinion. All of the interns are also properly trained and realize that the majority of the houses we will be working in are in desperate need of some help, but it never gets easier hearing a grumpy customer yelling in my ear as I am helping the certified repair tech I am on the job with try and help get them out of the situation they are in. I might have some natural talent when it comes to HVAC repair, but the thing that I need to work on the most is getting some thick skin!
