Figuring out equipment for sound

When our band wanted to beginning recording, I needed to figure out what audio equipment would be best for our sound. I first looked into purchasing equipment but the cost was more than we could cover. I then started researching the options for rental. I first had to find a studio to rent, get the dimensions of the room plus determine how various microphones we’d need plus how the speakers would be powered. I factored in the equipment we already had, whether or not we wanted monitors plus how long we’d need in the studio, the good news was the studio rental included an AV consultant to help us out. Talking with the AV guy, I realized we’d want at least 4 mics plus would absolutely need a sound mixer. He was able to get us the speakers, necessary amps plus monitors plus handle the rigging so that we could fly the speakers. The people I was with and I chose wired microphones plus digital monitors, which are good for recording, but because we were renting rather than buying, we were able to afford a twenty-channel mixer with plenty of outputs, along with aux sends plus video feeds, we had access to matrix feeds that are used for zoning the speakers! With the speakers positioned throughout the room, we could adjust their levels individually. The digital board included a good on-board effects processor plus enough bands of EQ that we had a lot of control over our sound. A combination of smaller plus greater speakers allowed for good tuning plus to accommodate the acoustic properties of the room. With so various variables in acoustics, the help of the AV consultant was super beneficial.
