A thoughtless home redesign cost us much needed HVAC duct.

I come from a rainy region full of large dense forests and sizable homesteads, however my immediate neighbour owns 50 hectares of land and the two of us hardly hear anything going on around us… So when I decided to build a hour home, I took an hectare off our land to build a log house, Amish-style.

My architect was indeed Amish and the two of us came up with a 2 living room summer time home design with an extended garage.

Initially the garage was supposed to be stand-alone although I changed our mind to connect the garage to the back house! Part of the reason was heater-related cost and energy saving tips I got from our a/c representative. Since I am not well-vast in HVAC duct, he explained that it’s cheaper and easier to duct the home when both units are adjacent to another than to budget for 2 stand-alone units! But I explained to him that I wanted to use a ductless mini cut for every room instead. They have become quite popular lately and I wanted to try them with the aim of reducing a/c repair or a/c repair costs related to duct cleaning and sealing. He was amazed at our AC comprehension and as time went by I kept learning more about A/C so that I would have a better understanding of the difference between commercial A/C and residential appliances. And be able to tell what could warrant a heat pump service. I was delighted to have free time to buy a oil furnace for sale from a local repair provider who also had some commercial Heating and Air Conditioning for sale… Overall, I was delighted to watch the home being built and witness the gas furnace/heater upgrade around the house.
