Hamster in the duct system

I wasn’t blissful when my child wanted a hamster! I don’t adore mice, rats or anything in the rodent family.

I held her off for multiple years however she wouldn’t supply up on it… She desperately wanted a hamster for her pet, and for her seventh birthday, I finally gave in, & she was really happy.

I made her promise she would take care of cleaning the cage, as well as feeding & providing water for her pet. I also busy the importance of keeping the hamster contained, and all of us bought a cage & a big play area for the hamster! Unluckyly, shortly after the purchase of the hamster, she got away from my daughter. She was moving him from the cage to her play area & she got scared & bit her finger. She dropped him & she disappeared. All of us searched the entire current home for the hamster with no luck. Not long after that, both of us heard him scurrying around inside the walls. I distraught about destruction to the structure of the current home & the aroma of rodent feces. I then got the plan that the hamster might have gotten into the ductwork. Since this was in late September, the outside temperature was just beginning to cool off. All of us were only a couple weeks away from needing to start up the heating system, there was no way I could run the heating system if my daughter’s pet was residing in the air ducts! What if she died inside the duct system? Not only would this devastate my little girl, however the aroma would be horrendous. I contacted a local Heating & Air Conditioning company & arranged for professional service of the heating system. I also mentioned the opening of a live hamster in the ducts. Fortunately, both of us were able to bait the hamster out with food.
