My mom grew up in the only apartment in her entire neighborhood that had a/c.
- She lived in a rural section of the country and not various people were actually well off! It was a poorer section of neighborhood and her dad was the manager of the bank, they were the only family in neighborhood that entirely had central a/c in their home, then needless to say, my mom’s friends always wanted to come over to her apartment to hang out in the summertime when the temperatures outside were really hot.
They always wanted to come in and start cooling down before they went back outside, however my mom had a ton of friends when she was growing up, and she has always said that it was because she had central a/c in her apartment and no one else did. She did tell me that it was fun to be the girl that always had people coming over to her house. I don’t feel if I would have wanted to be the center of attention simply because I had a central a/c idea installed in my house! But my Grandpa really liked being able to give the best of things to my mom when she was growing up. I suppose that it was cool that she was able to have a/c when no one else did. These days, just about everyone has a/c in their homes so it’s not that uncommon; What a difference from the times when only one apartment in neighborhood had a/c!
