I have considered quitting my task and starting my own business.
I am an executive assistant for a retail candy corporation. My boss hired me right out of undergraduate school, within months of me receiving my diploma. I didn’t have experience in retail or food service, be it candy or any other food product, however I had a degree in marketing and advertising. With the internet, the international markets are linked together through the digital realm. To reach out and find clients and purchasers, you have to be savvy with your internet outreach. This is what I brought to the table when I started here. But, now all I see are the little mistakes my boss is constantly making that are stunting the growth of his business. One way he is chopping corners is with the heating and cooling idea inside the processing facility. He is trying to run a fan forced air conditioning and gas furnace, however I have told him repeatedly that he needs an Heating, Ventilation & A/C chiller to keep the candy from sticking together ahead of packaging and shipping. If he had an effective Heating, Ventilation & A/C chiller, he could lower the temperature by 10 degrees while paying only marginally more in energy costs. Since we’ve received comments about the candy congealing together in its packaging, I see this as a major detriment to our growth in this industry. Although I don’t have the cash to go out on my own any time soon, I have looked at my options. It might be smarter for me to simply find another company with a similar open position before trying to beginning a company of this magnitude.
