I sleep better with the window air conditioner running

Every year, I look forward to installing my window air conditioner. I store the unit in the attic for the winter. Although the stairs are steep and narrow, I don’t have any trouble carrying the air conditioner down them. The unit is wonderfully lightweight and compact. It takes me less than five minutes to install it into the window and plug it in. I usually start it up before the weather requires air conditioning. I sleep so much better with the cooling system operating. It makes just enough noise to drown out the sounds from outside. I’m not bothered by traffic, road construction crew, neighbors, barking dogs or early morning birds. The sound of the air conditioner running helps to soothe me to sleep and keeps me from being disturbed. It also filters contaminants such as dust and pollen out of the air. My bedroom stays much cleaner. Because the air conditioner includes a cordless remote, I don’t even need to get out of bed to make adjustments to temperature or fan speed. The system is quite energy efficient and I only run it at night. The cost of using the air conditioner is very low. The unit doesn’t require any maintenance other than cleaning the air filter every month. I tend to leave the air conditioner in place much longer than I should. In my local area, the weather starts getting chilly by the end of August. I rarely remove the air conditioner from the window before November. I like keeping the bedroom especially cool and sleeping under heavy blankets.
