For the past month or so, I notice that every so often, my office will smell funny.
I can’t exactly describe the smell, it smells almost sickly sweet with a slight chemical smell to it.
It’s a really weird smell and I don’t like it at all. The first time or two I thought it was maybe an A/C issue, and that it would go away. But after the smell kept coming back I started bringing my desk fan to help the smell air out. I started noticing a pattern with this smell too, it would always be on Monday. It got to the point where the smell was affecting my work flow, so I confronted my boss about it and asked him what that strange smell was. Apparently I wasn’t the only one as my boss didn’t seem surprised by the question. My boss told me that it was from the commercial cleaning company. Apparently for the past month, my boss had hired a janitorial company to come over and clean the entire building over the weekend. The business cleaning service did a good job, I will say that, I had noticed that the place looked nicer, but then I asked my boss how does an office cleaning business create such a bad smell. My boss told me it was from the cleaning products they use. Although the cleaning products had a very strange smell, it worked very well and killed over 99% of germs. The smell always lingered on Monday, and that’s what I was smelling. I wish they would use a better smelling product.
