For the past month or so, I notice that sometimes, our office will smell sort of funny.
- I honestly can’t describe the smell, it smells sort of sickly sweet with a slight chemical smell to it.
It’s a rather weird smell and I don’t like it in the least. The first time or two I thought it was perhaps an air conditioning device complication, and that it would go away. But after the smell kept coming back I started bringing my desk fan to help the smell air out on a regular basis. I started noticing a pattern with this particular smell too, it would constantly be on Wednesday. It got to the point where the smell was affecting my labor flow, so I confronted my boss about it and asked him what that strange smell was. Apparently I wasn’t the only worker as my boss didn’t seem surprised by the question, then my boss told me that it was from the commercial cleaning business. Evidently for the past month, our boss had hired a janitorial company to come over and clean the entire building over the night hours. The company cleaning service did a good job, I will say that. I had noticed that the locale looked nicer, however then I asked my boss how does an office cleaning company create such a rotten smell. My boss told me it was from the cleaning products they regularly use. Although the cleaning products had a pretty weird smell, it worked certainly well and killed over 99% of germs. The smell regularly lingered on Wednesday, and that’s what I was smelling all the time. I wish they would use a better smelling product.
