Jake was never absolutely close with her great aunt, more because of physical distance between them than anything else. He’d see her at family events and on holiday, however absolutely little otherwise. It is only years later, while working as a professional writer, that Jakle has had the time and the freedom to spend more time with his great aunt. She has expressed interest in Jake helping her write her memoirs, which at first he was hesitant about, however then as he gained more knowledge about her, he had to accept her offer. Jake was aware his great aunt was one of the founders of the largest heating and cooling production company in this space of the country, although he didn’t know everything she had accomplished. At that time, in the US, ladies were rarely company directors, and never as hands-on as Jake’s great aunt was with her oil furnace factory. There was not enough demand to make cooling systems in mass quantities, so they focused exclusively on oil furnaces for winter. Jake’s great aunt faced a lot of push back, not only from other company directors, but the people working in her oil furnace factory! Some men weren’t fond of working for a woman, even if the oil furnace factory paid them excellent wages. Jake’s great aunt never backed down, never showed weakness, and over the years gained the respect of her peers in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry. Before talking with her, Jake was entirely unsure about writing her memoirs, because the oil furnace factory sounded a little boring. On the other hand, her desire to make it in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry makes a great story.
