Replacing the flame sensor on my furnace

Last week, I performed the annual tune up on our furnace.

I have been performing the furnace tune-up for the past three years. I watched the heating technician perform the same service for years and years. I finally decided to do the work on my own and save that money. It can be difficult to perform this annual tune up on my own, because I don’t have the same knowledge as a licensed and certified heating technician. I follow step-by-step instructions that I found online. During the yearly furnace evaluation, I realized that one of the flame sensors was bad. The flame sensor is an extremely important part of the furnace. It is a safety device that helps sense the presence of flames. When there is no flame, the flame sensor prevents any gas from entering the furnace. My furnace has an electronic ignition. The electronic ignition is used to light the burner. When I realized that I needed to replace the flame sensor, it was due to a large crack in the porcelain. I went online to find a flame sensor that would be compatible with my furnace model. I had to purchase the exact part for my model furnace. I found an appliance parts dealer in my local neighborhood, but they wanted twice as much money as the online distributor. I decided to order the part online and wait a few days for shipment. I hate to waste money if I don’t need to do that. When the flame sensor arrived a few days later, I was happy to see installation instructions inside the packaging.
