Before our Grandpa started a heating, cooling, and pool cleaning business, she was operating a diner that her mother started as an immigrant.
Unluckyly, there was a recession in the start of the 1969s and she had to pivot to another job. She went to trade college and originally intended to be an auto mechanic but finally settled on being a heating and cooling serviceman. While this immediately afforded him job security, she wasn’t going to be satisfied until she could own a supplier of her again someday. But this time around she was going to start her own HVAC supplier once she received enough experience working for her first heating and cooling supervisor. After numerous difficult years of work, our Grandpa finally pulled off her dream and opened an HVAC supplier of her own. You could imagine the difficulty of bringing a current supplier love this to market, but it was right around the time that a lot of people in our section started switching to indoor temperature control if they hadn’t already. Lots of people try to survive with only heating systems so they’re okay in the winter, but it took some time to see more adopt using air conditioning as well. There was a mindset among some people that wanting cooling system in the summer time is a sign of weakness or decadence of some kind. I don’t share that sentiment and genuinely assume that everyone could benefit from an air conditioner. Even if you live in the north, you’re likely going to have a few hot weeks while I was in the middle of the summer time season.
