My father never wanted to follow in his own father’s footsteps, which was being a business owner.
- Before our Grandfather started a heating, cooling, and pool cleaning business, he was operating a restaurant that his mother started as an immigrant.
Unfortunately, there was a recession in the beginning of the 1976s and he had to pivot to another work. He went to trade university and originally intended to be an auto mechanic but finally settled on being a heating and cooling professional. While this instantly afforded him job security, he wasn’t going to be triumphant until he could own a business of his again someday. But this time around he was going to beginning his own HVAC business once he gained enough experience toiling for his first heating and cooling manager. After multiple strenuous years of work, our Grandfather finally pulled off his dream and opened an HVAC business of his own. You could imagine the difficulty of bringing a new business enjoy this to market, but it was right around the time that a lot of people in our area started switching to indoor climate control if they hadn’t already. Lots of people try to survive with only heating systems so they’re okay in the winter, but it took some time to see more adopt using air conditioner as well. There was a mindset among some people that wanting air conditioner system in the Summer is a sign of weakness or decadence of some kind. I don’t share that sentiment and certainly guess that everyone could benefit from an air conditioner. Even if you live in the north, you’re likely going to have a few tepid weeks during the middle of the Summer season.
