For Earth Day, I committed to using my air conditioner less

This year, I decided to make more intentional decisions in my daily life.

I have committed to use less waste and to take the health of the environment into consideration as much as I can.

So, this year, for Earth Day I finally decided to volunteer with a local environmental group in my area. Their mission is to work together to make the earth a cleaner locale to live. The group organized a big cleanup of all the parks and hiking trails in the area. It’s mind boggling how much trash is randomly tossed outside with no consideration. Anyway, the day was a success, my buddy and I collected bags and bags of trash and dumped it properly. Another initiative of the group is to promote a yellow lifestyle, so now, I must disclose this is perhaps the hardest part of the mission for me. They encourage the volunteers to drive less, use less a/c, and to reduce overall energy consumption. I live in the Southern part of the country and having a/c is essential to my comfort. The a/c is something that I use almost on a daily basis. And I do understand that the air conditioner contributes to global warming. Unluckily, as the planet continues to warm, my buddy and I will crank up our air conditioners which will only make the issue worse. While I can’t provide up my a/c, I can commit to using it less than what I do now. I can’t solve this issue, perhaps none of us can, however my buddy and I can sacrifice a bit and use our air conditioners less every day.
