Don’t fret over a broken space heater

Have you ever heard the phrase: don’t cry over spilled milk? Sometimes, the littlest things will push us over the edge and upset us badly. This is what happened when our space heater stopped working randomly during the winter. My wife and I moved into the apartment that we currently lived in last winter, and we noticed that there were some drafty spots in our apartment. The furnace was working properly, but there were some cracks and holes where the heat was escaping the house, making everyone cold. We didn’t want to invest any money in repairing the house, so we decided to purchase a space heater. We could always take the space heater with us if we moved to another apartment. We had only had the space heater for a few weeks when we began noticing a burning smell from the room that we keep the heater in. Apparently, we discovered that our space heater was drawing a lot of power from the outlet, and the receptacle that the heater was plugged into started melting. It melted the plug, the wire, and eventually the heater! We were crushed. We had ruined a perfectly good space heater, and since it was our fault, we couldn’t return it. My wife immediately started crying about the wasted money we spent on the space heater. However, I tried to encourage her. It wasn’t a huge deal. At least we had a working furnace and each other. If the furnace had died instead of the space heater, that would have been a much bigger problem.
