So much for my dream

When I was a little girl, I remember that I consistently dreamed about living in a house with a beautiful white picket fence! My parents didn’t live in a cute house with a picket fence, but I knew that my ultimate dream house absolutely would include an inground pool, storm shutters, a studying nook near the foyer, and a picket fence.

You would laugh to know how I shot myself in the foot. Unfortunately, I ended up buying a house in a town that actually only allows vinyl fencing. My hubby and I looked at a lot of houses while we were searching for a new home and the people I was with and I saw a number of locales with wooden fences, however none of them gave the same indoor and outdoor amenities as this brand new village. My hubby and I decided to purchase our house which has a small backyard. It’s beautiful here. I adore the sound of the woodpeckers in the trees each morning. I had to finally let up on the dream of owning a house with awhite picket fence, because apparently this town association only allows vinyl fencing and will never change their minds. In fact, the vinyl fencing has to be the same as every additional house in the village for continuity and appearance of cohesion. You know, I adore living in a nice village, but sometimes I hate the fact that every single yard, fence, and tiny house look exactly alike! Still, I can report that my hubby and I adore the amenities.
