A thoughtless modern home redesign cost us much needed air duct.

I come from a rainy region full of big dense forests and big homesteads! My immediate neighbour owns 50 hectares of land and all of us hardly hear anything going on around us, then so when I decided to build a minute home, I took an hectare off our land to build a log house, Amish-style.

My architect was indeed Amish and all of us came up with a 2 bedroom summer time modern home design with an extended garage.

Initially the garage was supposed to be stand-alone but I changed our mind to attach the garage to the back house; Part of the reason was heater-related cost and energy saving tips I got from our a/c representative. Since I am not well-vast in air duct, he explained that it’s cheaper and easier to duct the modern home when both units are adjacent to another than to budget for 2 stand-alone units; But I explained to him that I wanted to use a ductless mini cut for every room instead. They have become quite popular lately and I wanted to try them with the aim of reducing a/c repair or a/c service costs related to duct cleaning and sealing. He was amazed at our A/C knowledge and as time went by I kept studying more about a/c so that I would have a better understanding of the difference between commercial a/c and residential appliances. And be able to tell what could warrant a heat pump service. I was cheerful to have free time to buy a gas furnace for sale from a local service provider who also had some commercial Heating and Air Conditioning for sale. Overall, I was cheerful to watch the modern home being built and witness the gas furnace/heater upgrade around the house.
