When we were still working in the office eight months ago, we were having a lot of issues with the commercial HVAC system in the building.
- There was always something going wrong with it, it seemed like.
We were always seeing the commercial HVAC technicians coming in and out through the building. The HVAC technicians were there so often that we ended up knowing most of them. Even though I work at an accounting firm, we were almost like co-workers with the HVAC technicians. I thought that we were going to have to invite them to our company Christmas party if that kept up! However, then all the shutdowns started to happen and so most of us ended up having to work from home instead of going into the office. It was annoying, but I understood why at the time. The virus was so misunderstood at that point that it was really freaking everyone out. The HVAC guys kept right on working, though. They were right in the middle of putting in a brand new high efficiency heating and cooling system in the building and they didn’t have to stop working. They were considered to be essential workers, which ended up being a good thing for us. The office, which used to be way too cold for my liking, even in the middle of winter, is perfect now. We finally got to start back to work earlier this month and the indoor air quality in the building is perfect now. I guess the HVAC guys didn’t stop until they finished the job.
