I work for a specialty construction company here in town, and we are contracted with various theme park attractions, both locally and nationally.
We are a theming company that creates immersive environments for the entertainment of others.
It’s a fun job, and we get to see all the new attractions that are being built before they are released to the press. I have walked through so many sites during the construction phase, which is cool because that is exclusive behind the scenes access. Though it has some sweet perks, I do face some challenges with my job. One of which includes finding a reputable signs and graphics company when we have projects out of town. We prefer to use graphics companies that are close to the jobsite to save on shipping as well as if there are any issues – it would be easier to correct with a local company. So, before a project is kicked off, we have a meeting to discuss the graphics package and the requirements. I am the Project Coordinator, and part of my job is to find local graphic design, sign, and printing companies. I always print copies of the drawings for the site Superintendents, but those drawings get wet, misplaced, or destroyed while on the construction site. Therefore, I have had to place last minute orders with local printing companies because I usually have one day to have new drawings in the hands of the Superintendent. It is hard to find printing service especially at the last minute, so I have since opened accounts with several major graphics companies in all the states that we are currently working in. I need to have as many backup companies as possible with cheap printing services especially when I need last minute printing done.
