I think the cartoon turtle moved faster than our new HVAC technician.

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen those cartoons where the slow turtle was running a race with a rabbit, but I have. Somehow the turtle always seems to win the race in those cartoons, but that’s not the case in real life. A turtle is slow, no matter where he is. Even when the cartoon turtle was at his slowest, he was still faster than the HVAC technician that came to our house last week. It took him 10 minutes to get out of his service van, and another 10 minutes of checking through his tool bag, and patting down his pockets, before he got into the house. It made me wonder how long it was going to take him to check our furnace. I was afraid that by the time he even got to the furnace room, that our furnace would age enough that we would need to have it replaced. I know that I’m probably caring a little bit too far as far as how slow he was, but I really think I’m right. When the HVAC technician finally got into the house, my dad showed them to the furnace room. Maybe it was my father standing over him as he did all this work, or maybe it was the idea that it took them so long to get into the furnace room, that he felt he needed to be little quicker, but it took him less than 20 minutes to complete the job. When dad came back upstairs from the furnace room, he told my mother that he didn’t think that I would be doing that job much longer. He said he hated being an HVAC technician, even more than he hated being in school.
