I absolutely hate being sick. I tend to blame my friends or family members who were sick before me that they were the ones that got me sick. However this time I personally think it was my hvac system that kept getting me sick. This winter I have been sick at least five times in the matter of three months. That is a record high for me and something that I do not think is normal. Personally I think that the air filter on my hvac system was so dirty, that it was collecting a lot of contaminants and dust has led to all of my sickness. When I was home sick from work I decided to call my hvac technician to see if he could clean my hvac system. When he went downstairs to take a look at it he came back up to tell me that he doesn’t think my hvac system has ever been cleaned. I rent the house that I’m living in and I think I am going to mention to my landlord that he should have it cleaned every year before a new tenant comes in. He said that the air filter was cake packed full of dust and that the air duct system was filled as well. My HVAC technician told me that he’s never seen an HVAC system this dirty before in all of the HVAC systems that he’s maintenanced on. My hvac technician also told me that there’s no scientific correlation that a dirty hvac system makes a person sick. But it makes sense that if a person has bad allergies, their allergies may become worse because of the dirty air that is being transported from dirty ductwork that contains dander, pet hair, contaminants and dust.
