I’ve actually always enjoyed thunderstorms and watching the rain, but I wasn’t happy about the recent thunderstorm we had.
It was very windy, rainy, and the storm ended up knocking out the power.
It was extremely hot and humid outside and suddenly we started feeling this discomfort in our home with no working HVAC system. Without the A/C system doing its thing, we were not able to continue with dehumidifying the air with the A/C. It became absolutely sweltering in our home in no time and I haven’t sweated so much for as long as I could remember. The power was out for the rest of the day and we didn’t get power restored until the middle of the night. I was opening all the windows and doors just to let the cool night air inside the house, even though the humidity was still really bad. The cool night air still felt pretty nice, a lot nicer than our stuffy house was feeling before I opened the windows and doors. When the power finally turned back on though, I rushed to the thermostat and had the A/C system cranking. I closed the windows and doors again and I finally was able to get some rest that night. I was telling my wife that I plan on getting a backup generator so that we never encounter another issue like this again. I honestly can’t stand feeling so overheated and uncomfortable in my own home, it’s the worst feeling ever. If I get that backup generator, our HVAC system will keep working even when the power goes out.
